Dunburgh Footpath Work Party - Volunteers Required on Saturday Morning
Dunburgh Road
10:30 AM – 12:30 PM
This is a very short notice call for volunteers to help on a work party to make repairs to the Waveney footpath at Dunburgh - installing a new bridge across a gully and repairing the steps from the road down to the river.  The party will be led by RWT member Peter James who is very experienced in this type of project and is Norfolk ramblers work party coordinator.  Peter has obtained funding for materials  - we need a couple of volunteers to assist - particularly with carrying sleepers down the steps. Several of our usual volunteers are away this weekend and so if you can help please email me andrew.mackney@gmail.com or call 07836 229127Parking (Map ref 52.468027, 1.533563) - Access to the footpath is from Dunburgh Road which is narrow. There is one parking place at top of the steps which Peter will need for his vehicle. Take care not to block passing places.  We might be able to arrange a car share.

Eel Monitoring - Call for Volunteers
The Swan Hotel
7:30 PM – 9:00 PM
We are very fortunate to obtain another DEFRA grant (£12k) to continue the eel and fish migration project on the River Waveney. We wish to focus on eels, particularly at Ellingham which is the first barrier they encounter. We are looking for volunteers to monitor the movement of the eels/elvers and training will be given to those volunteering for data collection and contacts for data to be sent to a central point. The aims are to establish several traps, which we may make, covering as many entryways into the fluvial system as possible. Traps will enable capture, retention and estimation prior to the eel release. Keith Lead (RWT Trustee) is the Project Manager but we will be guided by a professional fisheries expert, Andy Hindes (Fishtrack Ltd) who will give the presentation about the project and the eel life cycle.Date : Tuesday, 16th May 2017Venue : The Swan, HarlestonTime : 1930 hrsIf you are interested in this exciting project please come along so that you might contribute to the much needed eel recovery on our river. Please let Keith know, preferably by e-mail (keithjpb@gmail.com) or alternatively tel : 01379 388031 if you wish to attend.Thank you
