River Waveney Trust Floating Pennywort Control
October, November December 2022
Join Broads Authority River Rangers & our volunteer River Wardens to help control invasive floating pennywort between Billingford Bridge and Hoxne Mill. All training and equipment provided.
Parking: will be in a meadow off Low Road, on the right-hand side before the Billingford Bridge as you drive toward it from the A143. I will be standing by with high-viz to direct people where to come.
What to expect:
A friendly atmosphere, teas & coffee provided
You will need adequate fitness to drag and pull vegetation with a rake and travel across uneven ground.
Full training and tools required for the job.
What to bring:
Garden gloves
Plenty to drink and a packed lunch.
Wear hats, sunscreen or extra layers depending on the time of year.
Wellington boots
Please dress for the weather with long-sleeved tops and trousers. Fleece materials are preferable when working close to the water as they are lightweight and dry more quickly.
A dry bag with spare clothes is recommended.
Volunteers wishing to bring a kayak or canoe are welcome. Just confirm arrangements directly with katie@riverwaventrust.org before the event.
Expenses:
We have limited funds available to contribute towards volunteer travel expenses. Please inquire with Katie about the day.
Thanks, Katie
